Prickly Pear Cays

The Cays are located six miles north of Road Bay in Anguilla in the Leeward Islands.

The Western smaller cay consists of mainly rocky coral and scrub with no easy access to the island.

The Eastern Cay has similar terrain on the south side of the island , but once you pass through the passage between the two cays, on to the north side, you’ll be treated to a long, beautiful white sandy beach and to the turquoise waters of the bay, where you can snorkel amongst the coral reefs.

If you choose to explore the rocky coast line, depending on the time of year, you may find a variety of nesting sea birds.

Prickly Pear Bar & Restaurant also known as Agatha’s has been in operation for twenty years. The restaurant was tastefully rebuilt after hurricane Luis in 1995 which destroyed 90% of the original buildings.

The new buildings are situated in the midst of a well groomed lawn which normally has a life of it’s own around lunch time with ground lizards scurrying around in search of leftover tidbits. Whether you sit and enjoy lunch at the main building, or on the new decking under the thatch umbrellas, you can gaze across the turquoise and blue seas while sugar birds (banana quits) dart around the building searching for rice or sugar, some are brave enough to eat sugar from your hands.

The thatch theme continues to the beach where you’ll find Allan, Agatha’s son (The self proclaimed BBQ king, Bartender, Post Master General, & Mayor of the Island.)

Allan, always found at the Tiki Hut bar, will tend to all your beverage needs, whether an ice cold beer , a refreshing rum punch or a variety of frozen coladas/daiquiris.

Once you have your drink in hand, enjoy the ambience at one of the thatch covered picnic tables or lounge under an umbrella on a beach chair whilst gazing at the beautiful scenery.

Taking a walk along the beach, you’ll round the point where you’ll feel a little more secluded and appreciate the uninterrupted views of the outer reef and Anguilla in the distance.

Lunch is prepared daily on location where you feast on Chicken, Baby back pork ribs, or Fish ( Mahi Mahi) grilled on locally made bbq coals. All entrée’s are served with seasoned rice ‘n peas, coleslaw, mixed salad and Agatha’s famous sautéed potatoes.

Lobster is available daily as we have a live cage. For larger groups (10+) requiring lobster, the earlier the notice the better.

We carry a selection of white, rose and red wines ranging from $16 - $48 , however if you have any special requests (including Champagne), we can arrange this with prior notice.
